Our eLearning lectures have practical objectives and points you can discuss with your colleagues. Here is an example

Rapid descent of the lower limb - mountain biking Part 1A to 2B, presented by David Pope

Mountain bikers - biomechanical assessment and treatment. Do you look after patients and sportspeople that need to be able to move smoothly and easily, change direction quickly and need strength without getting rigid?

This presentation covers lower limb biomechanical assessment, locating overactive muscles that may be causing rigidity, and improving functional movements.

Objectives -

  1. identifying patterns of movements that are causing your patients pain
  2. locate muscles causing rigidity and bracing
  3. provide passive and active treatment for patients with lower limb dysfunction
  4. teach patients better movement strategies
  5. teach improved muscle activation
  6. learn to setup your mountain biking patients quickly and easily

Discussion points from this eLearning topic

  1. when is strengthening required, and when should we teach muscles to "downregulate"?
  2. if decreasing the tone in a muscle (eg adductors) improves movement, do we need to strengthen the opposing muscles (eg glute med)?
  3. how do we teach patients to have better movement patterns for their sports activities
  4. hands on vs hands off treatment approaches
  5. does a treatment focusing on pain or range of movement change function
  6. who should be doing core rigidity "bridging" exercises?
  7. how is changing seat position going to effect a cyclist's upper limb pain?
